Quirky West London production genie, Simon Byrt, has produced ten tracks, and co-written six on the sophomore album from London based Brit school alumni, Pixx. Released on 4AD today.
Described by Line Of Best Fit (in a glowing 9/10 review) as keeping “Rodgers’s trademark genre-jumping intact, sounding just as fresh as on her debut, proving that Age of Anxiety wasn’t a litmus test for settling any particular one and, on Small Mercies, establishing it as her calling card. “
The album is an unwieldy, confrontational monster of a record. It’s a big favourite at Friends Vs Music HQ. The guitars and lyrics of Andean Condor get me every single time.
Simon produced and co-wrote the singles Andean Condor and Catholic Track, and produced Bitch.
